Iran ‘Orange Days’ hattricks in Germany

Iranian feature ‘Orange Days’ has won three awards at the 67th edition of the Mannheim-Heidelberg International Film Festival (IFFMH) in Germany.

The Grand Newcomer Award Mannheim-Heidelberg for the best fiction feature film went to the Iranian film.

Its lead actress Hediyeh Tehrani was given special praise for her outstanding performance in the film.

‘Orange Days’ also received the International Film Critics Prize given by the FIPRESCI Jury, as well as the Ecumenic Film Prize.

The awards were received by the film’s lead actor Ali Mosaffa.

Directed by Arash Lahouti, ‘Orange Days’ tells the story of Aban, the only female contractor in the cutthroat and male-dominated orange harvesting industry, who enters a competition to win a large contract. Her efforts remain futile while anyone involved in her story tries to fail her.

A number of Iranian superstars, including Tehrani, Mosaffa and Mehran Ahmadi are among the cast members of the flick.

It has gone on screen at some international events, including the 14th Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland, the 18th Calgary International Film Festival in Canada, the 43rd Toronto International Film Festival in Canada, the 42nd São Paulo International Film Festival in Brazil, the 2018 Torun International Film Festival (TOFIFEST) in Poland, the 2018 MedFilm Festival in Italy, and the 8th Malatya International Film Festival in Turkey.

‘Orange Days’ recently brought its actress Tehrani the Best Actress award of the 2018 CineIran Festival in Canada.

The IFFMH is considered the second-oldest film festival in Germany after the Berlinale. The 67th IFFMH was held on 15-25 November 2018.
